Hugh oge O’Mulhallon
Ballygenes, also Ballyganew. Later assigned to Arthur Freeman.
In the early 1600s, Neal Oge O’Neill let land at Killelagh to a number of people whose names appear in forms related to Mulholland. The leases survive in a printed Latin calendar of an inquisition. They bring the names of tenants and their neighbours into view, beyond the known keepers of the bell.
The inquisition’s date is blank in the printed calendar; it may be 1640 or 1641. It records earlier leases. The spellings below follow the research transcription, with abbreviations expanded in some first names. These records do not by themselves establish how the tenants were related to one another or to a bell keeper.
